PROLOGO Scratch HWD Saddle

Prologo's Scratch HWD Saddle is a lot like their Scratch Nack. That is, it’s designed around the same core principles that go above and beyond what you'll see from most saddle makers.

The primary difference between a Prologo saddle and others is that the Italian maker varies the flex of both the foam (common in many other brands), as well as the shell that sits atop the rails. The HWD in this saddle's name refers to the shell, made of High Weave Density carbon and varied in thickness throughout. This allows the saddle to be softer where it's critical (between your legs) and firm at the tip and tail.

The backbone of the Scratch HWD can flex, and so can the foam. Prologo keeps that mid-zone soft, the wider rear portion fairly firm, and the nose firm as well. Speaking of the nose, this saddle is longer and wider than the Scratch Nack version. This makes it an ideal choice for mountain bikers who need to scoot forward during steep climbs, or roadies …a carbon/Kevlar shell and titanium rails offer exceptional comfort and durability… who find themselves inching toward the bars during long stints in a TT position. (Note that this is not a time-trial-specific saddle. You might consider the Nago Evo TTR series instead.)

Mountain bikers and anyone who's ever had a bike tip over in the garage will also appreciate the tiny side bumpers on the outside edges. Your saddle is an investment and you don't want the Lorica cover torn due to a simple mishap. By the way, the other main difference between the Scratch HWD and Scratch Nack is that the Nack gets carbon rails, while the HWD relies on titanium rails instead. The latter material is simply more durable for off-road riding where harsh, consistent vibration could shorten the life of a carbon-railed saddle.

About fit: This is a round saddle. Prologo believes that riders who stay seated more prefer their rounder design. They also make both semi-round and flat models and advise that riders who move more on their saddles, stand for climbs and so on will prefer flatter saddles. The Scratch HWD is a narrow saddle as well, at 134mm wide.

Prologo's Scratch HWD Saddle is available in Black/black and White/white color schemes.
